My apologies for the long awaited update! It has been pretty busy around this place, but it has been great so far! =]
I arrived on Friday, moved all of my stuff in and such and went to dinner as a staff team. I am very thankful for my quaint little room! It is homey and even has a little bathroom attached! Look at me, moving up in the world.. they gave me my own bathroom! ;] lol.
Anyway, Saturday we did a day of outreach at Bradford beach. It was kinda rainy at times, but the weather held out, and so did some people. I went out with one of the staff, Aaron. We talked to a lot of people who did not want to go through the Gospel, but our last conversation was with a couple 2 years out of college, both believers, from La Crosse! We did the soularium with them and talked for about an hour. It was a sweet converstation. Although we didn't share the Gospel with everyone we talked to, I am confident that God used our converstaions with them to plant seeds and think more about spiritual things.
The past few days have been filled with meetings to iron out some details and getting to know the staff team. It's been a good mix of information and fun. =] Some of my favorite parts so far have been:
1) Talking about the individual strengths of our staff team. My top strength is individuality.. learning about what makes people unique and what strengths they have, so it makes sense that I would enjoy this particular meeting. It was so awesome to hear what talents each person brings to our team and how that plays out in their lives. Our team is made up of very different people, but also very similar ones, and I think we compliment each other very well. =] I can't wait to see how God will continue to unite us as a team.
2) Getting to go shopping for the students' gifts with Bethany, because I love buying gifts. =] It was a fun challenge to spend $10 per student and find things that they could use, but that also represented Milwaukee well. =]
3) Juggling in the student lounge last night with Bethany and Dave.. resulting in belly-aching laughter. I haven't laughed that much in a while, so it was refreshing and a great bonding time. =]
Tomorrow morning I will be leaving for Orlando to be in my best friend's wedding this weekend!! Although I am sad I will not be here when the students arrive, I am uber excited to spend time with Ashley during this important time in her LIFE!! =]
Bear with me as I get used to posting on this blog.. eventually I will figure out how to post pictures and maybe even videos too!
Prayer requests:
- For the students to arrive safely on Friday and have a smooth transition here
- That I would be able to transition back smoothly from the wedding
- That our staff team (and project in general) would be united with one purpose and that there would be clear communication
